Peter Zimmerman is a German artist, born in 1956. He lives in Cologne since 1984... His work varied from posters and printed cardboards in the early 90’s to his latest paintings made of epoxy resin. This last evolution of his work with epoxy resin on canvas has brought him an international recognition.
He uses digital technology to create a vibrant new form of abstraction. He selects images copied from the World Wide Web and other electronic sources, then manipulates them using various computer filters.
Peter Zimmermann was commissioned, together with German artists Anselm Reyle and Olaf Nicolai, by the car brand Bugatti to conceive a piece for their new pavilion of exhibition in Wolfsburg, near Hanover. This project is his most ambitious until now. After creating a geometric abstract motif on his computer, he had it reproduced on fabric woven of a dimension of 8m high by 22m wide which is presented in the pavilion like a huge curtain.
